Chris Brinlee, Jr.
Founder of Transcendent Expeditions, Chris has a decade of experience mountaineering and trekking in the Himalaya. He’s climbed four peaks higher than 6,000 m; two of them via technical routes; one of which was solo. Over the course of eight trips to Nepal, he’s embarked on half-a-dozen different treks, but the Manaslu Circuit remains his favorite.
Trip Highlights
100+ Miles / 160+ km +30,000’ / +9,150m -25,000’ / -7,620m
This trek around the Manaslu Massif allows intrepid adventurers to experience the Himalaya as it was before more popular treks (namely The Annapurna Circuit) were forever changed by roads and infrastructure—while getting up close and personal to one of the highest peaks on the planet.
This is a difficult trek—not for the feint-of-heart—but it’s an experience as rewarding as it is challenging. Despite its difficulty, the Manaslu circumnavigation, including the crossing of 16,900’ Larkya Pass, is achievable by fit, adventurous people—or those willing to put in the work required to prepare.
